FABRIC & QUILT SHOP ASSOCIATE:

Responsible for assisting customers in selecting fabrics and related sewing supplies, accurately measuring and cutting fabric to their specifications, maintaining store inventory, and providing excellent customer service, all while demonstrating a strong understanding of different fabric types and their uses. 

Start Date: Immediate Start

Job type: Part-time, Full-time and Contract positions available

Schedule: Flexible work hours available. Between the hours of 9am – 6pm daily

 

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Customer service: Greeting customers, actively listening to their needs, and providing guidance on fabric choices based on project requirements and desired aesthetics. 

  • Product knowledge: Possessing in-depth knowledge of various fabric types (cotton, linen, blends, etc.), their properties, and appropriate applications for sewing, quilting, or other crafts. 

  • Fabric cutting: Accurately measuring and cutting fabric using cutting tools, ensuring precise dimensions and minimizing waste. 

  • Inventory management: Receiving and stocking new fabric deliveries, rotating inventory, and maintaining neat and organized displays. 

  • Sales support: Promoting current sales promotions, suggesting complementary products like thread, notions, and patterns to enhance customer purchases. 

  • Payment handling: Processing customer transactions accurately at the register. 

  • General store upkeep: Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, including straightening fabric bolts and replenishing displays. 

Required skills:

  • Excellent communication skills: Engaging with customers, understanding their needs, and providing helpful advice. 

  • Basic math skills: Accurate measuring and calculating fabric quantities. 

  • Attention to detail: Precise fabric cutting and ensuring customer orders are correct. 

  • Physical ability: Lifting and handling fabric bolts, standing for extended periods. 

  • Passion for sewing and crafting: Enthusiasm for fabric and related projects can enhance customer interactions. 

  • Other Potential Responsibilities:

    • Leading sewing classes

    • Sewing display samples for show floor

    • Online order fulfillment: Processing and packing of online orders.

 

Compensation: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. $13.00 - $17.00 an hour

Work Environment: A functioning fabric and retail store. This role requires standing, bending, moving, lifting bolts of fabric for long periods

BOUTIQUE SALES ASSOCIATE:

This role is responsible for all sales activities and sales associate job duties, from greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, suggesting items, lending opinions, and providing product information. 

​

Individual responsibilities as a Retail Sales Associate include demonstrating outstanding customer service and selling skills, keeping the selling floor stocked with merchandise, addressing customer complaints, assisting in the display of merchandise, organizing the selling floor, stock areas, and other responsibilities as assigned.

​

The Retail Sales Associate must process payments by totaling purchases, operating cash registers and financial transactions, processing checks, cash, and store or other credit cards. They must also be able to deal with customer refunds courteously and professionally. 

The Retail Sales Associate maintains a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm, reflecting the store's commitment to our customers.

The Associate develops product knowledge by reading current vendor tags and pamphlets and attending training classes in order to communicate it to the customer. Sales associates must stay current with promotional events and sales.

Start Date: Immediate Start

Schedule: Flexible work hours available. Between the hours of 9:30am – 6:30pm daily. Nights from 7:00-9:00pm are potentially available depending on the events schedule. Closed on Mondays.

  • Physical demands: This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.

Compensation: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. $12.00 - $15.00 an hour

PROUCTION SEWER: MEMORY GIFTS

A Sewist that is comfortable and skilled at working in the quilting, t-shirt quilt and memory gift industry. Where sewing machines and sewing skills are used to create and potentially repair custom gifts items according to customer needs.

The Production Sewist will be responsible for operating industrial sewing, quilting machines, cutting tools and creating a variety of products based on specifications and design patterns.

The ideal candidate is skilled in sewing, has a keen eye for detail, and can consistently produce high-quality work.

 

Start Date: Immediate Start

 

Job type: Part-time, Full-time and Contract positions available

 

Schedule: Flexible work hours available. Between the hours of 7am – 9pm daily.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:

  • Follow design patterns and specifications to ensure product consistency

  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications

  • Operate sewing machines or sew manually to create, repair, or alter pieces and other fabric-made items

  • Maintain high production standards and quality

  • Measure and mark fabrics for cutting or shaping

  • Ensure that all pieces are correctly assembled and that the finished product is of high quality

  • Perform maintenance tasks such as replacing needles and cleaning and oiling sewing machines to ensure their longevity and good working condition

  • Inspect fabrics for defects and remove defective parts prior to the sewing process

  • Assist in cutting, pressing, and finishing work

  • Communicate with team about issues, progress, and changes

  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals

  • Adhere to safety and health standards while handling sewing machines and other tools

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

  • At least 5 years of experience with sewing machines and sergers

  • Knowledge and skill in sewing, including different types of stitches, use of sewing machines, and understanding of fabrics and textiles

  • Attention to detail in order to follow complex sewing patterns and designs, and to maintain high-quality output

  • Creative eye for color, design, placement and pattern combinations

  • Time management and efficiency skills, as production sewing often involves meeting specific deadlines

  • Physical abilities that allow them to sit or stand for long periods, bend, grasp, grip and perform fine-motor movements, and handle various sewing tools

  • Problem-solving abilities to adjust and correct issues with machines, fabrics, or patterns during the production process

  • Excellent customer service skills, and ability to show compassion or be empathetic. Ability to communicate with people who may be grieving

  • Interpersonal and communication skills for working collaboratively with other production team members, understanding instructions, and providing feedback

  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols when working with sewing machinery and tools to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment

  • Ability to read and understand sewing patterns and specifications

  • Quickly learn new machines and technology. Sewing machines, long-arm machines, embroidery, electronic cutting tools, etc.

  • Ability to take custom customer orders and communicate the project scope back to the team.

  • Occasional overhead lifting, bending, stooping, squatting. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

  • Availability to work in person

Typical Product Types: T-shirt quilts, T-shirt blankets, memory bears and other memory animals, custom pillows, ornaments, home décor.

Compensation: Salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. $17.00 - $20.00 an hour
